fortnite-1830-patch-notes-bring-a-fix-for-the-scythe-fall-damage-bug

The Fortnite 18.30 patch notes have arrived, which means a host of new content is now in the game and awaiting players. Among the major headlines are a crucial bug fix, a makeover for several parts of the island, and the promise of a new unvaulted item. Players will once again have their say in which item becomes the next to be unvaulted, but act fast. These tend to unfold in just a day or so. Here's everything in the Fortnite 18.30 patch notes.

The War Effort - Boogie Bomb Versus Combat Shotgun

After voting into existence the Combat Assault Rifle and Shockwave Launcher, Fortnite players now have the opportunity to contribute once more to J. B. Chimpanski's war effort. This time, the spacefaring chimp is wondering whether to bring back the Boogie Bomb or the Combat Shotgun.

While the Combat Shotgun is probably self-explanatory, the Boogie Bomb is maybe unfamiliar if you're a more recent Fortnite devotee. The Boogie Bomb performs an area-of-effect attack when thrown and makes anyone within range dance to disco music for several seconds, leaving them open to attack. Though the involuntary dancer can still run around and jump, they can't fire a gun, take cover, or build. Then again, the bomb does not discern the thrower from the target, so a poor throw can mean you and your opponent will share a dance together. How romantic.

Can a fan-favorite shotty dethrone the almighty Boogie Bomb?

As before, you can vote for which item you'd like to see unvaulted by donating gold bars at Donation Stations around the island. They're marked as money bags on your map and can be found in most major locations. The first weapon to be 100% funded will appear in the game shortly thereafter, while the losing item will return to the vault. Note that this process normally only takes a few days at the most, so get your vote in soon if it matters to you.

Mountain Base Landmark

Forever known as the ***REDACTED*** Bunker, Slone's latest secret mission means this mysterious landmark just east of Catty Corner is now open, revealing the new IO Staging Facility within. We previously learned that this bunker had ties to the Ghost and Shadow groups thanks to a Season 7 challenge which considered it one of several such associated locations on the island, but what is Slone's plan for the IO Staging Facility, and how does the IO relate to Ghost and/or Shadow? As always, she will keep us in the dark until absolutely necessary.

What lies within the IO Staging Facility?

Elsewhere on the island, the Cube Queen's Convergence is transforming already, just a week after she first appeared there. What is her plan? Who do we root for in this apparent battle between two unstoppable forces when neither seems to have the loopers' wellbeing at heart? It's getting to that point in every Fortnite season when things start to get really messy.

Other Bug Fixes In Fortnite 18.30 Patch

Along with those marquee changes, a pair of bug fixes have landed in the game, including one which was ruining players' time with the new Sideways Scythe. Here's that short list to complete the patch notes.

  • Fixed an issue involving the Sideways Scythe’s “Smash Attack” ability resulting in fall damage if players used it from a high point.
  • Fixed an issue involving the red dot indicator no longer showing on the compass when enemies were firing.

It's sure to be an eventful week in Fortnite with Halloween approaching. What else might the Cube Queen have in store? Let's cross our fingers, hope for the best, and find out together.
